It's really hard to nail down this band's sound, let me just give you a quick background first.

"Like Rats From A Sinking Ship are a Norwegian experimental hardcore trio based in Trondheim, Norway.

Formed in 2007, they quickly became one of the Norway’s most talked about underground bands, with their unique blend of hardcore punk, electro and drone rock. The bands debut EP, entitled “SXY SXY GSW EP”, saw the light of day in early 2008 on their own label The Perfect Hoax."

This album was produced and engineered by Alex Newport.  To get an idea of other albums this guy has worked on click here, and just scroll and skim.  An impressive body of work and that's just recent stuff.

Alright, now for the hard part.  This band reminds me a bit of Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, but they still sound quite a bit different.  The first song is 9 minutes long, and is a slow drone/doom song.  After that it turns into chaotic punk/screamo/hardcore with little dashes of drone/doom/post-rock at times.  This truly transcends many genres, but the cool part about it is that for me it flows seamlessly.  There are some parts I don't like, but I really like what is going on more often than not.
